The Hero Xtreme 125R was launched at the Hero World Day event. The event was at the Center of Innovation and Technology (CIT) in Jaipur. We got a short spin on it on their handling track. Here’s what this bike is all about.
Design Overview: A Unique Look for the Hero Xtreme 125R
First, I have to talk about the design. I’d call it the “Xtreme,” but it looks nothing like the Xtreme 160. That’s thanks to the massive bikini fairing with the wide LED headlight. It feels like it could have come from Hero’s recent line of zero motorcycles. It’s got that look about it. As you move back, of course, you have these giant dang extensions. They look quite imposing. But from some angles, especially when you’re on the bike, they look awkward. That’s because they are wide and set quite low. But, they are a good place to keep your cup of chai. And of course, when you move to the back of the bike…
Advanced Features: Leading Innovations in the Hero Xtreme 125R
It has a nice two-tone middle panel that looks sporty. The tail is neat. It has a tire hugger at the back. So, the design is sporty. Hero targets the premium5 segment with this Xtreme 125r. Hero says it has many first and segment features. The front FK is 37 mm in diameter, the fattest in its class. It also has a mon at the back. It is adjustable for preloading in seven steps. It also has a new chassis.
Impressive Handling: The Performance of the Hero Xtreme 125R
All this makes this bike handle well. Around the track at CIT, it was quite fun. At first, the front end felt a little weak. But, once you learn to trust the front end and lean the back into corners, it feels confident. It’s a lot of fun on the track. I’m pretty sure it will be a blast in the city, in traffic, or on the winding Mountain Road. This is Hero’s first bike with 17-inch wheels at the front and rear. That makes it nimble. It also has MRF zapper tires at the front and rear. These give it plenty of grip in the turns.
Braking System: Safety Features of the Hero Xtreme 125R
I have to mention the brakes. The Xtreme gets a disc brake at the front and a drum at the rear. But, this is the only bike in the class that gets ABS. Even the most powerful bike here, the NS 125, and our favorite bike, the Dser, don’t get ABS. The brakes work well. They have plenty of bite and feel from the lever. Of course, ABS is optional.
Powerful Performance: Engine Specifications of the Hero Xtreme 125R
This means you can buy the bike without it. In that case, you get IBS or linked brakes. Of course, you will save some money as well. At the heart of this bike is a new motor. It’s a 125 CC air-cooled motor. It isn’t based on the one from the Glamour or the Super Splendor. But, Hero has done a lot of work with the head and the valves. This bike now makes 11.5 horsepower, which is among the highest in its class. It’s not the highest. That title goes to the BNS15.

Comfort and Ergonomics: Riding Experience on the Hero Xtreme 125R
But it’s pretty close. Hero claims this bike can go from 0 to 60 in 5.9 seconds. That’s not bad for a bike in this class. The motor feels Punchy too, especially in second gear coming out of tight turns. It’s quick. The third gear is a little tall, so it feels a little sluggish at times. But the best part is the motor is super traceable. You can put the bike in fifth gear at 3 G pH and it just handles that with no problem.
Console Features: Information Display on the Hero Xtreme 125R
This means if you’re in city traffic or on a nice mountain road, the Xtreme 125 should be a lot of fun. Now, about comfort. The bike is quite comfortable. It has a low seat, so even if you’re short, you can easily touch the ground. The seat is wide, so you can move around easily, even if you are tall. They’re 6ft or above. The foot pegs are a bit rear-set, but the bars are tall. So, you sit upright. This is a good mix of sporty and comfy. It’s perfect for a bike that will spend most of its time in the city.
Affordable Pricing: Value Proposition of the Hero Xtreme 125R
Sometimes on the highway and a little time on the mountain roads. The x 105 gets a small but neat console. It has a negative LCD console, fully digital. Of course, you have your basic information here: speed, clock, fuel, and tachometer. You can switch between your auto meter, trip A, trip B, and average consumption. But, that’s it. It’s simple but works well. Prices for the XT 125 start at Rs. 95,000 without ABS. If you want ABS, it’s a little under 1 lakh rupees.
Final Verdict: Conclusion on the Hero Xtreme 125R
The Xtreme 125R’s price is quite good. It’s lower than the Pulsar NS 125 and even the top-end Rider. This is saying something. But, you have to see in the real world how the Xtreme performs against them. You’ll have to see when you get it for a road test in Pune. Do you have any questions about the Xtreme 125R? Drop them in the comments. We’ll try to answer them there. Or, we’ll answer them when you get the bike in Pune for a full road test. And, as always
